Of Soldiers and Virgins
Lecture performance, 2026

We are fraternal twins, and this project dramatizes the resonances between our respective, most recent research topics: fascist-masculinist group phantasies, and the mythos of the Virgin Mother.

Julie is a researcher in philosophy, specialized in the works of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. This project is based on an article she wrote in the context of her research on Guattari’s critiques of the cybernetic heritage. It illustrates the notion of masculinist group phantasies, and makes it palpable by citing the work of Klaus Theweleit, Wilfred Bion, and Deleuze and Guattari. It also addresses the passage from micro- to molar fascism as an aberrant runaway process of the imaginary, and demonstrates the importance of the imaginary and transversality as tools to dissolve protofascist group phantasies.

Quotes by the above-mentioned authors are placed in resonance with my current artistic project that mobilizes mythopoetic prose and moving sculptures to reimagine the mythos of the Virgin-Mother, and recalibrate repressive imaginaries in relation to desire and procreation.
