The Annunciation Reimagined / The Angel's Visit (working title)
A solo performance exploring the iconography of the Annunciation from an inclusive, feminist, and body-centred perspective. The figure of the angel — a queer, androgynous messenger — and that of the Virgin — a symbol of purity and sacrificial motherhood, who nevertheless gives her consent in the Gospel of Luke — are approached as plural forms that change through centuries and across geographies. Through a sensitive interplay of choreography, projected text, sculpted light, and costuming, this solo reimagines the encounter between Gabriel and Mary as it might unfold today.
